Auction Sniper for eBay App Reviews

Good idea but Ebay is working hard to make this useless

Over all I found the tool easy to use but it triggered ebays rules within 5 minutes and I was unable to view the item page from inside the app after that. Not really sure this is something the developer can fix.

Highly recommended — Snipe to your hear’s content!

If you’ve ever had to set your alarm clock up at 4 in the morning just so you could try and win an eBay bid at the last second, this app is for you. Win bids while you’re asleep! So far, Ive won every single thing Ive used your Mac app on.... about 9-10 things so far. And this is only been about 4 days. Set up instructions are easy to follow and my computer wakes up in the middle of the night and does my winning while I sleep, then the computer goes back to sleep. If you have questions, the email support is very quick and the info is always spot on and given with a kind tone (unlike some other places I’ve experienced where it seemed like I was bugging the developer for help.) It has a feature called Clusters so that you “cluster” your bids together by individual product. If you first bid wins, all the other bids are cancelled. If you lose your first bid, you probably will win your next and then, you guessed it, the following bids cancelled. This is allows you to confidently set up bids for a lot of the same stuff and not worrying about winning the same item multiple times. It works flawlessly. I am very happy I bought the software. I’ve never won so many items/ EDIT: It’s been a month or so later and I have won every single thing I’ve bid on. Love this program!

Application works well so far

I had previously been using an online sniping tool, recently eBay has stopped paying eBay Bucks on bids that they are able to tell came from a sniper. Switched to this desktop application so that the bid will now be coming from my own computer/IP address, won the first auction I bid on, and I got my eBay Bucks. So far so good. Customer support for this application is freaking awesome. He gets back to you in a nanosecond and is very helpful.

timely notifications, and it gives accurate sniping

This app performs well, and I havent had any problems with my snipes, they win as expected at the designated time. I like that I can see all of my snipes in one list with the amount of time left all in one place, very nice. This app has become more useful than eBay’s website for organizing my auctions. I also got a little Notification that my hidden bid was now too low by what was going on with actual bids in the auction about 5 mins after it had happened. That is very handy.

Works!

This application really works, make sure to read the instructions for how to setup your Mac to do it when it is sleeping/screensaver mode. By default it will place your max bid exactly 4-5 seconds before the auction ends. Make sure you have a good Internet connection.

Works great!

Works great and does the job great. I only have one complaint is that sometimes while browsing i keep getting a message about flash player having and error only while browsing using the snipe applcaiton. Hopefully an update will fix the issue. Other than that i have been able to win thanks to this applciation.

It worked for me

Greetings. I’m not a real frequent nor experienced buyer, but this app helped me to land a camera that I was particularly interested in on eBay. I had previously failed to win auctions on similar items when bidding manually, even when attempting to use the same sniping techniques. I noted there are web-based services that snipe for you. It seems silly to employ such a service when a program running locally on your computer can do it without involving a third-party website. While I don’t really like the idea of snipping, I have lost too many auctions to the practice. The reality is that sniping seems to be the way of life on eBay for those who are determined to satiate their desire to win an item. If your on the other end you and are unprepared you will generally loose, and that can be frustrating. So if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em! I tried the app in two auctions, I barely lost the first and then won the second. The app submitted my one and only winning bid within five seconds of the auction end time and I was victorious. A beautiful snipe. It’s not magic - you have to set a maximum bid that you’re seriously willing to pay and still hope for the best, but you need not be on the edge of your seat. Just let the program do its work and forget about it. My paranoid side thought that providing eBay credentials to this program is a little risky. What guarantee is there that the program wont collect and use the information for neffarious purpouses? I posed this question to the author and he responded promptly with reasonable assurances. Your password is stored in Apple’s keychain. Nonetheless, I changed my eBay password after the auction ended. I’m not suggesting the author is dishonest. I have no evidence to that effect and the program seems perfectly legit. However, a dishonest programmer would have unlimited control of your eBay account. Just something to consider. It would be interesting to run Little Snitch when exercising the program to see what outgoing connections are made. I’m not a frequent enought buyer to carry that study out anytime soon, but I will when the opportunity presents itself. I have not tried the automated wake-up or scheduling features yet, I just left my computer up and running and set to not sleep around auction end time. Seemed the safest way to try the program at first. So far, it’s proved its worth to me despite my paranoia! And the price is right. Overall, I think it’s a good program.

Just one word “Awesome"

Today! Just after winning my 6 bid in eBay! I decided to write a review on this app. I only have one word to describe this application… “Awesome”. There is a little learning curve, but once you get it. You just set it and forget it and later you get a winning confirmation from eBay. Cant get any better than that. The application by itself could be a little complicated to understand in the beginning but believe me, You will be wishing you had it long time ago. Two thumbs up to P.E.C. Inc. Again hope to see more updates to improve the use of it. Other than that is an “Awesome” app.

Great app!

Five Stars! Great app! I love the integration of the browser elements in this program! It would be even better with tabs (command-t)! Works without a hitch. Well worth the price!

a winning app

Most simply, this app works. It is fairly easy to set up, and it just works. I won the first auction I used it on. I’d been sniped on previous auctions, and finally decided to use the stategy myself. It is remarkable effective, and this app was the best solution I could find for doing so.

great support, and in the end, a fantastic eBay sniper tool.

I’ve used this app for a while and can give a good going over. Set up is a little long if you go the route of having your Mac be able to wake up to snipe, but once you figure it out the bonus is you only have to set it up once. :) Auction snipes are easy to start, and I’ve done many snipes with no problems. Customer support is ideal, can’t get much better, they return my emails, and do it very quickly, with intelligent answers. The “cluster bidding” is fantastic, works well. you can set up a group of bids, so that when one wins, the other auctions are canceled. excellent. when you want something, but see many choices and don’t want to miss one, while trying to win another. The app is simple to use.. actually a pleasure to use after the initial setup. you can see all your snipes in a “watch list” at a glance, and can change, edit, move them around and delete them with ease. How does it compare to other ways of doing ebay sniping? I personally find this method of eBay sniping ideal. It gives me personal control and I don’t have to send my ebay password to some web server like other methods. All in all a fine experience and app and customer support.

Must say, excellent eBay sniping experience

And always updating the app to make it better. I started with the iPad version, but now with both versions, it is better to see my iMac spring into action after setting a snipe up on my iPad. I now don’t have to do anything on the mac, it just comes to life and I got my two sets of what I am collecting with no problems.

Fantastic snipe app

This is an awesome app for sniping eBay auctions on your Mac. Jon (the owner/programmer) is amazing in his support of ANY user trouble. He seems to be 24/7 available in helping his customers/users. He’s extremely responsive and seeminglyl available 24/7. The app itself is very easy to set-up (assuming the user has basic a basic Mac OS-X understanding) and it’s extremely reliable in its functions. I’ve won nearly every bd I’ve placed using Auction Sniper. Te few auctions I didn’t win were purely becasue I was out-gunned by someone else ith a higher bid. But hey, tht’s eBay auctions for you; NOT the failure of this software. It requires some exacting set-up, however Jon’s excellent, through set-up notes help tremendously. Fool-proof yet miticulous set-up will yield winning auction results.

it eats my eBay auctions for lunch :)

if you are on eBay with any frequency, I can highly recommend this app, this makes eBay useful for me, without it, eBay deals are not to be had. I am constantly getting out bid. Even if I want an occasional eBay auction, this software is priced right. And I really like the interface, it does the Job for me.

Tremendous customer service, very useful app to use with ebay

emailed customer service and they were awesome, and very quick, had the answers that I needed and more. I highly recommend this app. eBay sniping done right and this ‘group’ bidding feature is a very helpful feature for me too. Update seems incredibly stable.. five thumbs up.
